GDB Rider Brunson Grothus Caps 2017 Season with ManCup Pro Mod Title

If you were to ask GDB multi-class rider, Brunson Grothus, if backing up a title is harder than getting the first one, he would most likely say yes. Since Brunson won his first Mancup Pro Comp and Pro ET titles back in 2013 at Bradenton Motorsports Park, he had been unable to put his name back on any national championship trophy, that was until a week ago.

The Manufacturers' Cup World Finals was really an exceptional event for the Pro-Mod bikes, and the performances seen all the way from first round of qualifying to the final round of competition was nothing short of mind boggling. Almost all of today's heavy hitters were in attendance other than the Canadian duo of Terry Schweigert and Burke Forester; all of the Mancup regulars were on the grounds as well as PDRA heavy hitters: Ashley Owens, Eric McKinney, Chris Garner Jones, TT Jones, and new pro-mod entry GT Tonglet on a third McKinney Motorsports entry. After three rounds of professional qualifying, Brunson found himself in the #5 position with a 4.033, near career best ET.

"Mancup Pro Mod was really legitimate this year with the likes of Jeff House, Brad McCoy, Paul Gast, Spencer Allen and Travis Davis. Then to navigate the competition like we had to at SGMP and come away with the championship is really a testament to our program and everyone that is involved with it. It starts with everyone at Grothus Dragbikes, especially my brother, Bradley, running the day-to-day operations, my Pops giving me a great piece to straddle and my mom, Judy, doing everything else it takes to make this race operation function 1000 miles away from home. "Showboat" Shane Eperjesi has been a vital asset to our team with all his expert advice. Ryan Young of Indocil Art deserves so much credit for the incredible paint he slung on our now national championship winning bike "Honcho". Continued thanks go out to my Uncle Tom and assistant Bill at Klemme Performance for providing us with such detailed engine assemblies coupled with Bill and Tim Robinson's transmission work, the Bill Vose CP Pistons and engine setup advice ran by the Dave Schnitz Firestorm ignition system. There are so many people to thank, and each one has played their own part in our sucuss: Jean Gosselin Motorsports,  Scott Yates at Sentry pumping out the cool parts we run on these things, Dan Wagner for great casework, AJ and Scott Tarchinski of Roemer Machine for their continued support, Mitch Brown from Monster for his help and lastly my wife, Madeline, and the lucky charm little man, Graham, for all the moral support!"

Lastly, all of us here at Grothus Dragbikes would like to recognize Jay Regan, Dave Schnitz, Kevin Williams, Victor Martinez and their entire staff for giving us a platform to race at. We are happy to be involved with an all motorcycle organization that gives the Sportsman racers as well as the Professionals a National Points series to race at which draws bikes from all over the world. In addition, all of the media types, Brandi, JT, Tom, Chrissy, Allisa Babor, Tim Hailey, Larry Burgey, Bland Bridenstine, Mike Swanson, Rose and Ivan; your stories and photos are truly priceless. What you capture through your lens are memories that will last a lifetime! To that, we say thank you!
