After being rained out at the previous Manufacturers Cup event in June, Grothus Dragbikes was geared up for the biggest all motorcycle event of the 2013 season, the Manufacturers Cup Summer Celebration at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, IN. The 2012 Summer Manufacturers Cup saw a record setting 850+ entries between Professional and Sportsman classes.

Battle of the Belts

After attending five American Drag Racing League events in the 2013 season, rider Brunson Grothus has qualified the Grothus Dragbikes Indocil Art Pro Extreme Motorcycle in the #6 position and into the elite eight bike field for the Battle for the Belts. The Battle for the Pro Extreme Motorcycle Belt is the most lucrative payout in Pro Extreme Motorcycle history with a $50,000 purse and $20,000 being paid out to the winner.

The Battle for the Belt race will be contested on Friday, September 6, 2013 starting at 6:30 PM EST in Rockingham, NC. Brunson Grothus will be matched up first round against #3 in points, Dave Norris of Bryans Road, MD.

Grothus Dragbikes entered this event in the #5 points position and needed to have a good event to cement their place in the single, biggest and most lucrative race in Pro Extreme Motorcycle racing history, the ADRL Battle for the Belts. As the team unloaded and set up for the weekend, they knew it was going to be a challenging weekend of tuning the Indocil Art Pro Extreme Motorcycle as the weather conditions were such that the GDB team had never raced in before. The weather station was producing water grain readings of 130+, which is double the normal water grain readings that the GDB team is used tuning for.
